Video – Dr Mike provides some good advice for people on, or about to start taking opioid medication for chronic, non-cancer pain.
Opioids are medications that are used for the relief of moderate to severe pain. They are often referred to as 'strong painkillers'. Examples of opioids available in New Zealand include codeine, oxycodone, morphine and tramadol.
Note: in this video Dr Mike Evans mentions some opioid medications that are not available in New Zealand such as Percocet, Vicodin, Dilaudid and many statistics that are relevant to the United States, but much of the video is still relevant to a New Zealand audience.
