Best Start is a suite of services, including groups for those who need extra support once they find out they are about to have a baby, or have recently given birth. Best start involves having a social worker walking alongside you, (and your partner if they want it) to help you prepare for baby. The social worker may be able to help you find housing, reconnect with whanau, develop new life skills, and prepare your home for the arrival of a new little person into your life. Best Start also includes the following groups: Birth support group, ABC playgroup for mums and toddlers, playgroup with speakers, crafts and practical ideas. Office hours 9–5 Monday to Friday. Some services offered include friendly contact person to answer questions about what the club does and other services in your area, a Buddy System so you have someone to turn to for help, advice, advocacy, support or just a friendly chat, and many more.

Well Women Franklin (external link)(external link) 
Phone 021 1588 134. Support for women and families in the Franklin region that are experiencing or at-risk of experiencing ante or post-natal distress, including baby and child-birth related anxiety and post traumatic stress disorder. Includes a peer support group guided by trained facilitators, also provides telephone support, a low-cost counselling service and in-home support to women and families who are in distress.
