The Waitematā, Auckland and Counties Manukau DHBs are providing the MMR vaccination at no cost for previously non-eligible patients 18 years of age and over. This is in addition to those already eligible for the vaccine.
This means the MMR vaccine is now available for no charge regardless of immigration status to Pasifika people aged 6 months–49 years and people aged 6 months–49 years travelling to the Pacific.
This is to reduce financial barriers for patients needing the MMR vaccine in response to the serious measles outbreak and state of emergency in Samoa, and the measles outbreaks in Tonga and Fiji.
This temporary measure is effective immediately in the Auckland region and will be in place for a maximum of 2 months, reviewed every 2 weeks.
