Find out about how you can show your vaccination status.
On this page, you can find the following information:
- My COVID-19 vaccine record
- My vaccine pass
- International travel vaccination certificates
- Vaccination cards
- The COVID-19 Immunisation Register (CIR)
As part of the COVID-19 Protection Framework, many businesses, events, organisations, community and a range of sectors may choose to have a vaccination entry requirement. This means you may need to prove that you have been vaccinated.
There are 3 official records you can use as proof of your vaccination status — My Vaccine Record, My Vaccine Pass, and an International Travel Vaccination Certificate.
My COVID-19 vaccination record
You can access your COVID-19 vaccination record through the website called My Covid Record. My Covid Record cannot be used instead of a My Vaccine Pass or an International Travel Certificate if you are going overseas. Learn more about My Covid Record.
The Unite Against COVID-19 website has ‘My Covid Record’ guide available in a number of languages, here.
My Vaccine Pass
Even though My Vaccine Pass is no longer legally required, we are encouraging everyone to keep a copy of your My Vaccine Pass in case businesses ask for it. If you want to enter a business or access an event or service where My Vaccine Pass is required as a condition of entry, you may be asked to show your My Vaccine Pass.
People under the age of 12 years and 3 months are not required to show proof of vaccination.
My Vaccine Passes will have an expiry date six months from the date of issue. The pass can be requested at any time provided you continue to be up-to-date with your COVID-19 vaccinations.
Your My Vaccine Pass will include your name, date of birth and a QR code. You can save it on a digital device, like your phone, or print a physical copy.

How to get My Vaccine Pass
There are a few ways to get your vaccine pass:
- Online through My Covid Record
- Over the phone: 0800 222 478. It is helpful to have your NHI number ready.
- In person at a pharmacy
(Pharmacies that are providing COVID-19 vaccinations can also help you request and print a My Vaccine Pass for free. Confirm in advance that they offer this service, and bring your NHI number if you can when you visit. Find a pharmacy near you.)
International travel vaccination certificates
Anyone 5 years and over who has had any dose of the COVID-19 vaccine administered in Aotearoa New Zealand can request an international travel vaccination certificate.
Requesting your certificate takes just 1–2 minutes and it will be emailed to you within 24 hours. The quickest way to get your pass is through your My Covid Record, but if you cannot access this service you can call 0800 222 478 – have your NHI number ready. Learn more about International Travel Vaccination Certificate.
Vaccination cards
You may get a purple vaccination card at your first appointment. This is not official proof of your vaccination. It is to remind you when your next appointment is.
The COVID-19 Immunisation Register (CIR)
When you get vaccinated, this information is recorded in the national COVID-19 Immunisation Register (CIR). The CIR will also record if you decide not to get a COVID-19 vaccine. Learn more about the COVID-19 Immunisation Register.
