What does the app do?

This app provides information on the UV index (UVI) forecasts throughout the day at your nearest location. You can also access information on other selected locations within New Zealand, Australia and the South Pacific region. The app is useful for planning outdoor activities throughout the year. It alerts you when the UVI is 3 or above and gives corresponding information on the exposure period within which skin damage can occur. It prompts you to avoid exposure or use skin protection (slip, slop, slap and wrap). Data in the app is provided by NIWA (National Institute of Water and Atmospheric). For a more detailed description of the app, see Google Play or iTunes and for a detailed review, see Reviews.

✔  Includes behavioural messages

✔ Provides education on UV index - easy to understand

✔  Has local region and town-specific info

✘  One possible improvement is some more detail on the types of sun protection required for the different UVI readings. For example, how often to apply sunscreen, what strength SPF is recommended or tips on how to cover up

Privacy and security

This app does not have a privacy policy, but since the app does not collect any personal data apart from your location, none is needed. Read more about things you can do to improve your safety and security when using apps.
