What does the app do?
SmartHealth is available to everyone covered by Waikato DHB services. When you sign up for SmartHealth, it connects you with online healthcare services through the HealthTap app.
The HealthTap apps allows you to:
- talk to an out-of-hours doctor by video, voice or text chat
- access doctor-approved health information on topics, conditions, treatment and research
- connect to your health care team
- schedule an online appointment with hospital specialists.
To register for SmartHealth you:
- must be 16 years old or over
- must be a New Zealand citizen/resident
- have a personal email address (NOT a shared email address). You can only register one SmartHealth account per email address.
- will need to provide one form of photo ID and take a clear photo of yourself.
Privacy and security
To sign up, you have to complete a sign up form. After 1-2 days, an email is sent to your personal email address with a link to get started. You will then need to create a password which will give you access to the HealthTap app.
