Comments: Overall, I think this is a useful app, especially for those who would like to keep a record of their mood for informing their therapy sessions and reflecting on the lifestyle factors that contribute to these. It may be useful for anyone over the age of 16 who would like to develop greater resilience for improved emotional strength and is preferably under the care of the mental health professional.
One concern I have about this however, is that this app is not a cognitive therapy app and so will not record the information that most NZ trained psychologists will want their clients to record, specifically negative thoughts leading to negative mood states. The relaxation audio tracks provided use evidence based strategies on the whole but the style of recording and voice will not be to everyone’s liking. I think that this app is definitely worth trying out to see if it meets your needs.
NZ relevance: Relevant to a New Zealand audience. Audio tracks feature strong Australian accent.
Safety concerns: No emergency help provided despite this being a tool for those already in therapy. However, users can add their own emergency contacts. The app does not prompt emergency strategies when very high levels of distress reported.
