How to get the app

MyHealthApp gives you access to the ManageMyHealth patient portal which is a secure website provided by some general practices (GPs). Not all GPs across New Zealand have the ManageMyHealth patient portal. Check with your GP whether they do. The ManageMyHealthApp allows you to:

  • access your medical records including lab results
  • improve your health by using online tools to track your health, set health goals and tasks
  • book appointments with your doctor or nurse
  • request repeat prescriptions
  • share your health information with healthcare providers
  • communicate with your healthcare professional
  • receive recall and appointment reminders.

Note: Not all features are automatically enabled. Each GP practice chooses what feature to enable. To register for the ManageMyHealthApp you must ask your GP for an activation code. You will need a personal email address and proof of identity.

Comments: Has potential but outdated and glitchy. In my case key personal information keeps disappearing or getting corrupted (blood group, donor preferences, street address, etc). If wrong info like this is stored and can't be corrected, how can we have confidence in the app generally, including the security of patient information? Needs urgent updating or should be abandoned before some serious mistakes get made because of its mishandling of data.

Comments: Bad navigation around site. Bad labeling of links. Bad size control. Information screens are not fully displayed. Bad system all around.

Comments: Unfortunately not the kind of UX anyone would expect in 2020. A pity – because if it was more user-centred, its functionality could be really great.

Comments: This app really excited me when I found out about it. However, I find the web portal a lot more interactive, informative and responsive to notifications. An example is when the app says you have a notification when you open it there is nothing to find. Love to see an update soon.

Comments: Real sad UX both on the app + online. Don't respond to constructive insights via their feedback email so clearly aren't interested in improving.

Comments: I like the ease of use in this app. The layout of the website and icons in the app make it seem like the internet was invented yesteryear as it seems very outdated. But it does the job and does it well.

Comments: They won't stop emailing me. Someone has entered my email address (wasn't me – I don't live in NZ). They never validated the email address, and instead just keep sending me emails. Makes you wonder how carefully they look after your private data.
