Reviewer: Angela Lambie, Pharmacist, Waitemata District Health Board
Date of review: April 2020
Version: 2.5.4 (Apple)
Comments: Users will have access to a toolkit of information to help them live a healthy lifestyle with diabetes. The app has interesting, useful information but does not have the functionality that other apps have, such as recording personal data. The app is from Diabetes New Zealand so it has relevant information for New Zealanders, including videos of people’s experience of living with diabetes.
Safety concerns: None.
New Zealand relevance: The information is written by Diabetes New Zealand.

Date of review: July 2018
Version: 2.5.4 (Android)
Comments: This app is useful for people with diabetes and their families to learn more about managing diabetes. This app is simply a list of links to all of Diabetes New Zealand’s A4-size PDF articles. Unfortunately, the app design is more suited to magazines. The information itself appeared useful and accurate but it is not optimised for mobile viewing due to the A4 size, requiring frequent pinch and zooming, which doesn’t work well at all on a phone. It is more usable if you read on it a tablet. You need internet access to read the articles, so it doesn’t really provide any added features over simply accessing the website directly. In addition, there are no other features above the PDF files that one has come to expect from an app (eg, no blood glucose tracking, no medication reminders, etc).
Safety concerns: None.
New Zealand relevance: The information is written by Diabetes New Zealand.
