Support Networks

Phone support There is growing interest by both patients and health providers in the benefits of support groups and networks, either in person, by phone or online communities. Many people like the opportunity to talk with someone who has experienced what they are going through and there is growing evidence as to the benefits of such support.

People with good support networks tend to do better than those who don’t. This support can come from a wide range of people (either with family/whanau, friends, neighbours, online or social group) and social, emotional and physical support is an essential part of self management support.
