For this topic page, we are referring to ischaemic heart disease (also known as coronary heart disease) which includes angina and heart attacks (medical term is myocardial infarction).

Heart disease is still the number one killer in New Zealand. It also affects many young men and women who don’t realise they are at risk until it’s too late.

If you are 35 yrs or older, check out your cardiovascular risk by taking the online quiz and talking with your doctor or nurse.
