Information for Carers

Do you care for a family member or friend who is ill, frail, seriously injured or disabled? You are not alone. There are at least 420,000 New Zealanders caring for someone and facing some of the sameĀ challengesĀ as you.

Key Points:

  1. Caring for a friend or family member can be very rewarding
  2. It can also be tiring - take care of your own health too.
  3. Make sure you get enough sleep, eat healthy meals and find time for some physical activity everyday
  4. If you are tired and finding it hard to manage, make sure you ask for help.
  5. Visit your family doctor regularly
